SECRETARY OF STATE'S SPEECH AT THE LORD MAYOR'S EASTER BANQUET: WEDNESDAY 2 MAY

1. As is traditional, the Secretary of State is due to speak at the Lord Mayor's Easter Banquet for the Diplomatic Corps on Wednesday 2 May. The core of the speech usually consists of a brief review of the major current preoccupations of British foreign policy.

2. The Private Office have asked for a draft outline of the speech early next week, to enable the Secretary of State to comment before his departure for the Far East Before I submit that outline, it would be helpful if you could let me have, by 1800 on Friday 6 April, a brief indication of what if

the Secretary of State might say about anything subjects in your area.
