We spoke on the telephone about Lady Howe's visit to Hong Kong with the Secretary of State.

2. Lady Howe will be undertaking a full programme on her own in Hong Kong drawn up to reflect her personal interests. She will be visiting a correctional institution for girls and a community centre to which voluntary womens' groups make a major contribution. She will be the principal guest at a luncheon with professional women, including leading members of the Civil Service, the Hong Kong Council for Women and service clubs. In addition, she will join the Secretary of State for the major social functions on his programme and in a visit to new housing developments in the New Territories. She will meet members of the Diplomatic Wives Association over tea.

3. In short, Lady Howe's programme in Hong Kong will add an important extra dimension to the Secretary of State's visit,
