ADMINISTRATIVE LARRANGEMENTS FOR THE VISIT OF THE SECRETARY

OF STATE FOR FREEGN AND COMMONWEALTH AFFAIRS TO CHINA,

KOREA, JAPAN AND HONG KONG

14-28 April 1984

1. DELEGATION

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, accompanied by those listed at Appendix I, will leave the United Kingdom on 14 April on the following tour:

15-18 April 18-20 April 20-22 April 22-25 April

25-27 April

China Hong Kong

Okinawa, Japan

Korea

Japan

A party of press (see Appendix la) will accompany the above delegation throughout the tour and will travel on the Secretary of State's aircraft. Separate administrative instrutions are being issued to them.

2. PROGRAMME

These, as at 2 April, are shown at Appendix II.

The Secretary of State will make a private visit to Okinawa from 20-22 April en route from Hong Kong to Seoul.

3. TRAVEL

a) The party will travel in an RAF VC10 (Task No 1180). The

detailed itinerary, together with other relevant travel details, is shown at Appendix III.

b) Take off on 14 April will be from London Heathrow

Southside at 1355 hours (local time).

Return arrangements:

The VC10 is expected to return to London Heathrow Southside at 0610 hours (local time) on Saturday 28 April.

c) The arrangements for this tour are being handled by Conference and Visits Section, Protocol Department, conjunction with the Ministry of Defence. Scheduled air bookings are also being made by Conference and Visits Section.
