Although Hong Kong and Seoul would

be possible in that week it is doubtful whether a satis-

factory tour could be accommodated between the Secretary

of State's Easter holiday and the Anglo-German summit in

the middle of the following week.

4. We have already agreed in principle, after consulting

you, that the Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Mr

Stanley, should visit Peking from about 24 April, returning via Hong Kong around 29 April, although the Chinese have not yet confirmed that these dates are acceptable.
