Thank you for your very interesting letter on Macao, following your recent visit.
2. To stay in touch with events in Macao we have, in the past, relied largely on the media and briefings from the MFA here. We have also discussed developments with the members of President Eanes's staff (the Governor.. is a personal appointment of the President) and the
member of the Government responsible for Macao - currently the Vice Prime Minister, Mota Pinto.
3. If you and your two Consuls are able to provide a round-up of the local scene based on your visits, we would find it very useful. Similarly, if we are able to provide you with information from here, we will, of course,
do so.
