If any Official Member of the

Legislative Council ceases to hold office

under the Crown in the Colony, his seat in

the Council shall thereupon become vacant.".

Amendment of Clause XIV.

Clause XIV of the principal Instructions is

amended by inserting, immediately after "ex officio Member"

where it first appears, the following

"or an Elected Member".

Deletion and substitution of Clause XVI.

The principal Instructions are amended by deleting

Clause XVI and substituting the following

Addition of new Clause XVIA.

"Tenure of Office of Appointed Members of Legislative Council.

XVI. (1) Every Appointed Member of the

Legislative Council shall vacate his seat at

the end of such period as may be specified in

the Instrument by which he is appointed or on

the date, if earlier, fixed in accordance with

the electoral Ordinance referred to in Clause

• XIII(1) (e) for the holding of elections

following a dissolution of the elected membership

of the Council.

(2). An Appointed Member who vacates his

seat under paragraph (1) of this Clause shall

be eligible to be re-appointed.".
