Amendment of
1.
regulation 3.
Regulation 9 is amended--
(a) by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following--
"(1) The registration officer may make such inquiries as he thinks
fit with a view to ascertaining whether any person whose name appears
in the existing final register-
(a) is dead;
(b) has ceased to ordinarily reside in Hong Kong;
(c) has changed his address;
(d) fails to satisfy the requirements of section 8, 9 or 10 of the
Ordinance; or
(e) is disqualified under section 11 of the Ordinance.";
(i) by inserting after “source” in sub-paragraph (c) the following-

Regulation 3 is amended----
(a) in paragraph (1)—
(i) by deleting "31 August" and substituting the following-
"15 August";
(ii) by inserting after "places" the following--
"within a constituency”;
(b) in paragraph (2) by deleting "for any reason it becomes impracticable or impossible to use as a polling station at any election any place designated under paragraph (1),” and substituting the following—
"he is of the opinion that there are special circumstances";
(c) by inserting after paragraph (2) the following-

"(2A) If he is of the opinion that no place is available within a constituency that is suitable and appropriate to be used as a polling station the registration officer may designate by notice published in the Gazette a place outside that constituency to be used as a polling station and the provisions of this regulation shall apply to that designation and place.".
Regulation 4 is revoked.
Regulation 6 is amended by deleting “31 August and ending on 11 October" and substituting the following-

Regulation 7 is amended—
(a) by deleting "21 October" wherever it occurs and substituting the following-
"15 October";
(b) in paragraph (3)(b) by deleting “7 November" and substituting the following-
"25 October".

(ii) by inserting after "dead" where it occurs in sub-paragraphs (c) and (d) the following-
"or has ceased to ordinarily reside in Hong Kong,".
7. Regulation 10 is amended-
(a) in paragraph (2) by deleting "7 November" and substituting the following-
"15 October";
(b) by inserting after paragraph (2) the following-
"(2A) If as a result of information obtained from inquiries made under regulation 9 or as a result of information obtained from any other source the registration officer on or before 15 October in any year, considers any particular of the entry the subject of such informa- tion to be incorrect, he may, when compiling the provisional register in that year, enter in the appropriate place therein the particulars of the elector duly corrected.";
(c) in paragraph (3) by deleting "paragraph (2)” and substituting the following—
"paragraph (2) or (2A)”.

8. Regulation 12(2) is amended by deleting "5 December" and substituting the Amendment of following--
regulation 12.
"20 November”.
9. Regulation 13(2) is amended by deleting "5 December" and substituting the Amendment of following-
"20 November".
10. Regulation 14(3) is amended-
(a) by deleting “11 December" and substituting the following- "30 November and ending on 10 December";
(b) by deleting “and ending on 3 January in the year next following".
