The meeting was opened by Mrs. Lasan who thanked the participants for their attendance. She recalled that the purpose of this periodical meeting on resettlement is to discuss developments, trends and problems related to resettlement from Hong Kong with an ultimate end to accelerate off-take as much as possible. She also requested that problems and concerns be brought directly to the attention of UNHCR. Mrs. Lasan presented the agenda, which was slightly modified from previous ones, to allow the representatives of countries to present the resettlement status for each country.
