You attached to your letter of 6 October David Peretz's report on the scheme which has been devised for stablising the Hong Kong dollar. The Prime Minister has noted that the Hong Kong Government now wish to introduce this scheme and that the Chancellor is in agreement with this.
I am copying this letter to Brian Fall (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) and John Bartlett (Office of the Governor of the Bank of England).
