When I opened our Shenzhen office on 27th June
I took the opportunity of holding a meeting in Shenzhen with:

The meeting was purely a business one concerning my bank, and the stated officials had travelled to Shenzhen to meet me for this purpose.
In between our business discussions the Chinese officials made certain comments which I am sure they expected me to report back to the appropriate Government officials in Hong Kong, and I therefore append extracts from the minutes of my meeting which may be of interest to you:-

Mr. Peng Shilu responded with a statement emphasizing the desire of the Chinese to proceed quickly and in the closest co-operation with Hong Kong.
He said that it was an underlying objective of the negotiators to assure the continued prosperity of Hong Kong and for this reason it was proposed that a Joint Management company for the project be established in Hong Kong. This was the preferred course, but the project would proceed under Chinese control alone if necessary.
