CHAPTER 2 : THE EXTERNAL SECTOR
Domestic exports
2.1
The domestic export sector continued to show an
impressive growth rate in the third quarter of 1983. The value of domestic exports, at $29,475 million, was 30%/
higher than in the third quarter of 1982. Trade indexes
available up to August suggest that there was an increase (1) of about 10% in prices
over this period. The
year-on-year growth rate in real terms was thus about 19%
in the third quarter, compared with 3% in the first
quarter and 14% in the second quarter.
