Using the Consumer Price Index (A) for illustration, consumer prices were on average 9.4% higher in the first half of this year than in the first half of 1982. The seasonally
adjusted Consumer Price Index (A) during the three months ending June 1983 rose on average by 0.7% each month. The equivalent rate of increase recorded for the Consumer Price Index (B) and the Hang Seng Consumer Price Index, seasonally adjusted, were 0.7% and 0.9% respectively. The following
table shows that the movements in the Consumer Price index (B)
and in the Hang Seng Consumer Price Index followed the same
trend as the Consumer Price Index (A):
