At 1 283 000, the number of visitors coming to Hong Kong in the first half of 1983 was 6% higher than in the first

half of 1982. Visitors from the United States, South East Asia, the United Kingdom and Canada increased by 12%, 118, 98 and 7% respectively, while those from Japan decreased by 3%. At the end of June 1983, there were 17 393 hotel rooms in Hong Kong compared with 16 541 a year ago.
