MR HAL MILLER MP
1. Mr Luce spoke to Mr Miller this morning. He drew on the points in your minute of 21 December and added that, since we already had good links with Peking, he did not think it would be profitable at this stage to risk causing confusion by widening the range of contacts.
2. Mr Miller was relaxed and undertook to report back accordingly. He added that the talks appeared to be going well, and that he hoped that his role as a message-bearer between London and Peking could now come to an end.
