Hong Kong: Parliamentary Briefing

As I mentioned to you on the telephone, the Secretary of State is in favour of continuing to offer Opposition Party spokesmen briefings on Hong Kong on a Privy Councillor basis. You suggested that it might be best if this were left until, say, early October when our position might be a little clearer.

Separately, the Secretary of State attaches importance to proper and coordinated briefing of Conservative Backbenchers on Hong Kong.
