4. There was also discussion of ways in which back benchers with specialist knowledge of Hong Kong could become more actively involved in the presentation in Parliament of the Government's policy. It was agreed that Sir P Blaker should coordinate a group of some half dozen such MPs, probably led by Sir Paul Bryan, who would stand ready to intervene constructively in any Parliamentary exchanges on Hong Kong. It was thought that one or two of them might, for instance, be able to play a helpful role in Mr Adley's Adjournment Debate, thereby lightening the load on whichever Minister would be responsible for replying for the Government. Other
opportunities could also be taken as they arose to counter Mr Adley's views.
