Thank you for your letter of 2 November about your 157 forthcoming visit to Hong Kong.
I was disturbed to hear about the information which you received from a journalist in Hong Kong. It would clearly be a very serious matter if anyone working for the Hong Kong Government had made a telephone call such as you describe. The Governor has however conducted a thorough investigation and has been unable to find any evidence to support the allegation which was made to you.
I hope that this incident will not mar your trip to Hong Kong. I know that the Hong Kong Government will be ready to help in any way they can.
