1 We understand that the Tokyo correspondent of the 'Süddeutsche Zeitung' in Munich reported some time in October that Hu Yao-bang had used 'recent' talks with Japanese Socialist leader, Ishibashi, to give a 'completely surprising and for the first time very comprehensive statement of guarantee for Japanese investments in Hong Kong and Taiwan.'
