Alternatively, a meeting could still be fitted in
between the Secretary Generalps reception for delegates
at 12 noon on the Wednesday and the first executive
session of CHOGM at 1500 hours, or between the Indian
President's reception for Heads of Delegation at 1730
hours and The Queen's banquet at 2000 hours the same day.
Sir Victor Garland is asking whether Mr Hawke's arrival
in Delhi on Tuesday 22 November can be brought forward
to enable him to accept the Prime Minister's lunch invita-
tion, but in view of Mr Hawke's commitments en route we doubt
whether this will be possible.
Sir Victor Garland also said that Mr Hawke would
want to have a wide-ranging discussion at this meeting
with the Prime Minister and that, apart from disarmament,
economic issues and the New Bretton Woods proposal, the
important subjects for him were sporting links with South
Africa, Hong Kong and the Middle East.
