1. Ken Walker, the head of Far East Section of Research Department, visited Tokyo from 23-28 October. We arranged a full programme for him including calls on the Korea, Indo- China, China and China-Asian Policy Divisions of the MFA meetings with a member of the Chinese Embassy and an academic expert on China, lunches with Magosaki of the MFA's Analysis Division and with a group of journalists, and meetings with a range of Dietmen. I enclose two sets of minutes reporting these various occasions, one for your own files and one for Research Department.

2.

I am also sending a copy of the three minutes concerned with China to Chancery, Peking. The record of the call on the Korea Division has already gone to Seoul.

Yours
