UP DATES ON BRIEFING MATERIAL ON THE FUTURE OF HONG KONG.

I attach telegrams in final form for Sir J Bullard in New Delhi and for PS/Lady Young in Nicosia. I also attach a draft minute from you to Miss Roberts CCD, updating the material we provided for Mr Whitney's use at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Annual Conference in Narobi. I have found out that Mr Whitney will not be leaving the UK until 29 October.

We spoke about the Anglo-French summit and also about the Secretary of State for Energy's visit to China and Hong Kong. I shall prepare a minute updating briefing for the latter.
