HONG KONG: GERMAN PRESS COVERAGE

258

1.

Thank you for your letter of 19 August. We are glad that recent German press coverage of Hong Kong has generally been more helpful than the articles published during the spring in

'Der Speigel' and the 'Bonn General Anzeiger'.

2.

We are grateful for your efforts and hope you will continue to steer the German media in the right direction on Hong Kong. Whilst there may be little that can be done to prevent the odd unhelpful press article (such as Frau Stern's) from appearing, a positive approach is very much the order of the day.

3.

I am sending a copy of your letter to Richard Margolis, Hong Kong and to Ross Clarke in the Hong Kong Government Office here in London.
