Thank you for copying to us your letter of 11 March to Dick Clift. I have poken to the Counsellor at the New Zealand Embassy about
:
Mr Cooper's visit. Larkindale told me that there was only one brief reference to long Kong, in the minister's talks with Wu Xueqian. In the context of a monologue on China's domestic affairs, Wu described the creation of the Special Economic Zones as a step relevan to the reunification of Taiwan with the motherland, and Said China hoped that similar arrangements might apply to Hong Kong when China recovered sovereignty; China intended to maintain the stabilly and pros] arity of Hong Kong by this system.
Not a new
or remarkable statement, but worth noting that Wu mentioned Hong Kong without being asked about it.
Yours.ever
Bob
