As you know, Robert Armstrong agreed that amended versions of the telegrams attached to my letter of 15 December should be sent, and I hope copies will by now have reached you. enclose a copy of John Mason's reply, indicating that the Australians are more actively concerned about the political

aspects. (FCO telegram No. 449, to which he refers, simply asked for a summary of Sir G. Yeend's response to be sent telegraphically.)

should be distributed to the Allies, I am copying this letter with enclosure to those members of the Committee who received the earlier telegrams, as well as to Robin O'Neill and those concerned in the FCO.
