Dear Kay
(14)
Your teleletter dated 8 March to Mr. Godwin refers. I enclose a copy of the article to which you referred, as translated by us.
As you will have read in our media summary reports, the article first appeared in a Chinese academic publication with a title on the lines of Contemporary History Research. The large sections of the article were then reported in the left-wing newspapers in Hong Kong. I attach for your amusement some notes prepared by a historian at the Hong Kong University on 1 (which are however unlikely to come into the public domain).
Encls.
Yours sincerely polan
