1. F enclose a copy of an article from the front page of Qingnian Bao of 5 April. It is a parable of a sort that we have seen before in the Chinese press, though not for the last few months, about a man who resisted the temptations of high wages in Hong Kong to return to the mainland. As in the past with such articles, it should be seen as part of the effort to instil in Chinese youth a sense of patriotic socialism, and as such it has little bearing on Chinese policy towerds Hong Kong. But one small point of interest is the reference to the subject's father having settled in Hong Kong and taken British nationality.
