Mr Mark Rittner of the Foreign Affairs Forum telephoned this office yesterday. His Forum, which meets once every two or three months, had very recently as their guest speaker Clare Hollingworth (former Daily Telegraph corres- pondent) who has been in Peking and who now lectures full-RICHARD LUCE time at Hong Kong University. She apparently gave what he described as a fascinating talk about the future of Hong Kong. She also knows a number of very senior Chinese Government officials according to Mr Rittner.

Mr Rittner suggested that it would be very useful for Mr Luce to meet Clare Hollingworth privately, perhaps over a meal or a drink. He has told her that he intends to make this suggestion to Mr Luce. I should be grateful to know whether you think it would in fact be useful for Mr Luce to talk to her informally.
