PROVISION OF INFORMATION TO EXCO UNOFFICIALS

I understand that when Dick Clift met the Unofficials in Hong Kong on 25 May, they expressed interest in getting information about leading Chinese personalities involved in the future question. Mr TS Lo was apparently particularly keen on this and asked whether Dick any personal background information could be made available. Clift discussed this afterwards with the Governor who took the view that there would be advantage in this.

2.

Research Department have now produced the attached biographical notes. They are in draft form, in case you or Peking have any amendments or other points to suggest. There is no objection here to their being passed in confidence to the Unofficials concerned are happy with them.
