As he remains a member of the Committee of Management of the Contemporary China Institute, the Governor receives papers relating to its annual meetings. The minutes of the meeting for 14 June 1982, circulated with the agenda for this year's meeting, contain a reference to "plans for a conference on the future of Hong Kong to be held in the summer of 1984". I cannot recall any previous correspondence about this conference, and it may be that it has fallen by the wayside. But it would be useful to know whether anything was said about it at this year's meeting (on 13 June), or if you or Dick Clift have any other information.
