LORD BELSTEAD'S MEETING WITH THE GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG AT 11.30 ON 25 JANUARY 1983: FUTURE OF HONG KONG

1.

I attach some points for discussion for Lord Belstead for his meeting with Sir E Youde on Tuesday 25 January to discuss the future of Hong Kong. Officials will attend the meeting.

2.

Other 'non-future' matters will be raised by the Governor when he calls on Lord Belstead again on Friday 28 January. A separate brief for that meeting will follow.

3.

Sir E Youde will be seeing the Secretary of State (09.00) and the Prime Minister (09.15) on Friday 28 January.
