Benefits for Hong Kong
5. Relay Station will bring some tangible commercial and technical benefits to Hong Kong. Local listeners will get high quality and
comprehensive reception of BBC's Chinese broadcasts as well as World Service in English. Satellite feeds to new station will give studio
quality sound for BBC programmes carried by Radio Television Hong
Kong (RTHK) which, additionally, will no longer have to pay for ad
hoc feeds. With much sharper World Service signal, much of
transcription material that RTHK is currently buying from BBC will
no longer be needed. RTHK may also benefit from visits by senior
BBC engineers in connection with Relay Station.
