VISIT BY MR LUCE
1. Mr Luce is planning to visit Brunei (transitting
Singapore) from 21-23 September to conclude the negoti-
ations on defence arrangements and to have talks with
the Sultan on our wider bilateral relations in the run-
up to independence. He also plans to visit Hong Kong
from 24-29 September.
2. He particularly wishes to meet Singapore Government
leaders after the Brunei visit in order to discuss Brunei
and any other topics of mutual interest.
Unfortunately,
however, this will only be possible on the intervening
Saturday because of Mr Luce's commitments elsewhere
(para 4 below).
