3. I should add that Jimmy Johnson, the Deputy Director of GIS Hong Kong, rang shortly

after Mr Montgomery today to say that he had heard of Mr Montgomery's request and to

offer any help he could in formulating suitable responses. I therefore read over the

questions above to him. He will be letting us have suggested responses by Tuesday next.

You may, therefore, prefer to wait to see Mr Johnson's contribution before asking your

Department to draft.
