VISIT OF GOVERNOR AND EXECUTIVE COUNCIL UNOFFICIALS FORM HONG KONG

1. I attach a note of calls already arranged for the group.

2. The Governor of Hong Kong would like to call on Mr Luce at 12.00 on Friday 1 July, to brief the Minister on the visit. He will also be calling on the Secretary of State and the Permanent Under Secretary on the same day.

3. Mr Luce has agreed to host a lunch in honour of the Governor and the Unofficial members of the Executive Council of Hong Kong at Lancaster House on Tuesday 5 July. A suggested guest list is attached. The group would also like to see the Minister more formally perhaps with officials. 3.00 the same afternoon looks to be the only available time.

The Governor has asked if Mr Luce would be willing to host a reception on the evening of 5 July, from 6-8 pm with 50-60 guests. This would provide an opportunity for the Unofficials and the Minister to meet members of the Hong Kong Parliamentary Group, businessmen and others concerned with Hong Kong. If Mr Luce agrees, we will submit a full guest list.
