I refer to your letter of 31 December 1982 to Peter Webb. Peter has passed it to me and the answers to your questions are as follows:

Macau has its own flag which is very rarely used. The Portuguese flag flies over Government House, and is used on official occasions. The Taiwanese flag is prohibited.

Macau uses the Portuguese National Anthem.

There are no elected bodies other than the Legislative Assembly.

d. The Legislative Assembly has 17 members,

composed as follows:

i. 5 appointed by the Governor;

ii.

6 "elected" from within a selection moral, cultural, welfare and economic

institutions.

6 elected by direct and universal suffrage.
