Our policy is geared towards fulfilling Britain's commitment and
responsibilities towards the territory.
Our aims are:-

To protect the welfare and interests of its people, while
allowing the territory as much practical autonomy as
possible.
To pursue talks on the future of Hong Kong with the PRC,
as agreed by the Prime Minister in September, 1982. Based
on the common objective of maintaining the territory's
stability and prosperity, we shall aim at a solution
acceptable to Parliament, the Chinese Government and to
the people of Hong Kong.
To maintain confidence in HongKong during the negotiations
with China.
a) To preserve and foster good relations between the UK and

territory.
