DEPENDENT TERRITORIES:
1.
FALKLAND ISLANDS AND DEPENDENCIES
I enclose a list of UK Dependent Territories as included in a list of Commonwealth Countries etc used by the Library in answering questions from members of the public, such as how many Dependent Territories remain to the UK.
2.
In view of the current concern over the Falkland Islands and the Falkland Island Dependencies being separate territories of different origins, should we in future list them separately as in the enclosed Written Answer from HC Hansard 14 April 1983? And should the number of DTs be 14 rather 13 (the WA still only shows 13 as BIOT is omitted)? Previous WAs even after April 1982 have until now been content with ''Falkland Islands and Dependencies'
as in the enclosed example from last June.

Brunei is a sovereign state in treaty relationship with Great Britain, whereby Great Britain is responsible for the conduct of external affairs and has a consultative responsibility for defence. It has never been a dependent territory and in 1971 ceased to be a protected state.

consideration within the European Community for a shared contribution by the Community to assist in the social, economic and political development of the central American countries.
Mr. Onslow: Certain central American countries receive assistance under regular European Community aid programmes. Several countries also benefit from the special aid programme for central America agreed in November 1982. Any consideration of further assistance would have to take account of available resources and other priorities.
FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH AFFAIRS
Dependent Territories
Mr. Stanbrook asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list all dependent territories of the United Kingdom indicating where appropriate those which are themselves dependen- cies of other dependent territories.

Dual Nationality
Mr. Alexander W. Lyon asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will give from international sources a list of those countries which do not permit British citizens to have dual nationality.
Mr. Rifkind: The information sought by the hon. Member is not available in consolidated form. Although our posts overseas keep us informed about the nationality laws of their host countries, we could not justify the research necessary to produce a definitive list of countries which do not permit dual nationality.
There are various forms of restrictions on dual nationality. Where it is necessary for Her Majesty's Government to establish the precise position of British the nationals under the nationality law of another country, Foreign and Commonwealth Office seek specific information from the authorities concerned.
Lebanon
Mr. Crouch asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will extend the deployment of the British contingent with the multi- national force in Lebanon beyond May.
Mr. Hurd: In response to a request from the Lebanese Government, we have decided to extend the period of our deployment for up to three months after the present deployment ends on 7 May.

Mr. Jessel asked the Secretary of S

Drug Dependents
Mr. Kilroy-Silk asked the Secretary Services what funds he made availa facilities for drug dependents.
Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg: It is the health and social services authorities services for drug dependents as may be light of perceived local needs, but, in funds totalling £213,850 were made Department in 1981-82 to assist volunt providing services for drug dependents.
Mr. Kilroy-Silk asked the Secretary Services if he is satisfied with the available for drug dependents.
