Thank you for your letter of 2 November. I answer your questions seriatim:

The Government of St Kitts-Nevis have asked that a constitutional conference should be convened with a view to independence being granted to St Kitts-Nevis under Section 10(2) of the West Indies Act 1967. British Government have invited the State's Government and Opposition parties to send representatives to a constitutional conference to begin in London on 7 December;

Brunei will resume full international responsibility as a Sovereign Independent State on 31 December 1983;

The British Government does not foresee giving up the Pitcairn Islands to New Zealand.

With regard to your final paragraph, there have been no major changes in the political status of British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Montserrat, Pitcairn Group of Islands, St Helena and Dependencies and Turks and Caicos Islands. A change was made on 18 June with the Falkland Islands and Dependencies (Interim Administration)Order 1982, a copy of which is enclosed. In December 1980 Anguilla was finally

and formally separated from the Associated State of St Kitts-Nevis. In 1979 some small changes were made to the 1968 Bermuda Constitution.
