Dear Sir,

I refer to your petition dated 24th July 1982 to the Governor and am authorised to reply to it on his behalf.

I have received a report on the matters you raised and, based on this, have the following observations:

(a) the Police Officer in charge of the

investigation was in possession of a search warrant and, contrary to your allegation, he says that he produced this at the time of the investigation;

(b)

the search of persons on the premises was conducted in a correct and proper manner. There is no evidence to substantiate your statement that anyone present was forced to strip, or that any assaults took place;

(c) the search of the premises, including

your luggage, was carried out properly. None of the Police Officers is aware of the existence of any necklace or bracelet and no loss was reported at the Police Station;

there is no evidence of cigarettes being appropriated; and
