brother of the prisoner, who said that he and the prisoner came to Hong Kong illegally from China in 1973 but had since gone their own ways nu nad had very little contact. The last meeting between the brothers was said to be in mid-1979.

described the prisoner as a mild, easy going person and thought he had been tempted into association with criminal types by the promise of easy money.

Mr. Sui was in favour of commutation of the death sentence.

was able to offer any constructive comments on tho case. According to her, the prisoner had drifted in and out of several jobs since the age of 14.

In summer 1980 the prisoner went to Holland to work in a gambling casino and had since become involved in drug smuggling between Hong Kong and Holland. She did not, however, believe that her brother had otherwise been heavily involved in triad activity. She was strongly in favour of the death sentence imposed on the prisoner being carried out.

Members of the public contacted by our staff, including Area Commitee and lutual Aid Comma ttee members had little knowledge of the case. They were, however, not

in favour of comutation of the death sentence since a cold. blooded murder was thought to be involved.
