All these years,

Prisoner used to contribute most of his income to his family and he led a very industrious and regular life. His leisure activities were mainly playing basketball with close friends for once or twice a week. And he rarely spent his money in a lavish way. With his regular contribution, his family could made ends meet and had no financial problems.

After joining the R & A Millett Co. Ltd., he had tried very hard to impress his Manager, Mr. Wright with his work performance. Unfortunately he seemed to be unable to live up to the expectation of Mr. Wright who never appreciated his hard work. Besides, for his blunt personality, his relationship with the Company staff was not too smooth or harmonious.

Then in January 1978, the Company Director, Hir. Millett had arrived Hong Kong with a buying team. As their English speaking Executive had been killed in a car crash, Prisoner was deployed as the interpretor and had actively participated in the negotiations with the clients. this opportunity, the Prisoner had tried his very best to impress Mr. Millett but his effort had not received much appreciation or compliments. Soon Mr. Millett left Hong Kong and he had not got any promotion.

In June, 1978, Mr. wright had received complaints of faulty goods from clients and also discovered that shipment of some orders had been delayed. As ir. wright found Prisoner to be solely responsible for the consequence, he was advised to resign from the Company in October, 1978. His post was soon filled by Mr. LEUNG (the Deceased) who was a very smart and motivated worker. Few months later, he had been promoted to be the Assistant Office Manager with a very handsome income.

On the other hand, the Prisoner had been out of job for several months after he lost his job at R & A illett Co. Ltd. Being very shameful and angry at his dismissal, he had secretly written a letter to hr. Millett in Britain, complaining that he had been forced to resign and also tir. #right had run his own Trading Co. at the Company's expenses.

In March, 1979, the Prisoner had worked in Top Coats Garment Factory for about 1 month but he was not satisfied with the new job and its income.

Then fir. Millett had come to Hong Kong again and had dismissed Mr. wright upon the information given by Prisoner on 16.3.80. Towards his assistance, Mr. Millett did try to offer monetary reward for Prisoner who yet refused his proposal. Instead, he earnestly requested to work for the R & A Millett Co. Ltd. again. Mr. Millett, however, was reluctant to do so as Prisoner's original post had been filled by the Deceased who then was the Assistant Office Manager. Eventually upon Prisoner's repeated request, Mr. Millett agreed to re-employ him on temporary basis and he was expected to leave the Company by end of April, 1979.

Since his return to the Company, Prisoner had been very jealous of the Deceased for his accelerated promotion after his last resignation. He therefore held a rather incooperative and irrespectful attitude towards the Deceased. Conflicts between Prisoner and the Deceased thus became inevitable but they never had resorted to fights. Therefore it was still a great shock to all the staff and Prisoner's family that Prisoner had committed this murder offence.
