clained she only became close friend with the prisoner while he worked in her father's noodle shop after his last imprisonment. Despite this, she claimed she believed the prisoner was basically a nice and reliable character, and that was why she chose to marry him later. Nevertheless, the prisoner was remarked to be having a weak will and was susceptible to the influence of his associates, especially his very best friend, YUEN Yiu-hung whom Madam CHEUNG considered to be having dubions influence on the prisoner. According to her, the: prisoner would easily become lax in working attitude whenever YUEN visited and invited him to join their pleasure- seeking activities. This was especially the case around the few months prior to the offence incident when the prisoner had already settled steadily for a year in a lorry delivery hand job in the Yaumatei Fruit Market. It was said that the prisoner had become very fond of mahjong game at that time and had an unrealistic thought that it might help him make some easy money to alleviate his tight budgetting because of his less earnings in winter season and his wife's medical fee for her complications in pregnancy. Madam CHEUNG believed this might have led to the prisoner's wrong doing in the present offence. Nevertheless, as a person, she described him as a responsible and affectionate husband who concerned very much about her health and the betterment of the family, though in general he appeared stubborn and did not accept her advice of dissociating YUEN. Madam CHEUNG earnestly requested for a chance for prisoner's early release or a fixed term of imprisonment for the prisoner so that the family would comeday have a happy re-union.

It thus made him susceptible to the influence of his peer grup, especially from YUEN, Madam LEUNG added.
