NOTE BY THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

(35 years) were convicted in the High Court in February 1979 of the murder of LAU Chak-Mo, a member of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force. All three accused were also convicted of the offence of robbery and CHAN Po-Kwong was convicted of possession of arms and ammunition in respect of items found in premises at the time of his arrest.
2. The three accused were sentenced to death in respect of the murder conviction and to 12 years' imprisonment in respect of the robbery offence.

In addition to the three accused referred to above, a man by the name of
was convicted on his own plea of guilty of offences of manslaughter and robbery arising out of the same incident. He was sentenced to 8 years' imprisonment concurrent in respect of both offences. A fifth accused
NG Wai-Bor received a concurrent sentence of 3 years' imprisonment in respect of conviction for offences of possession of arms and ammunition.

trial on the 21st January 1980 of being party to the common enterprise which was the foundation of the murder and robbery offences.
