(1) On 20th February, 1979, your humble Petitioner was convicted in the High

Court of Hong Kong, upon a verdict of a Jury of seven persons, of the offence of

murdering LAU Chak-mo, and was for that offence sentenced to suffer death in the

manner as prescribed by law.

On 13th March, 1980 the appeal of your humble Petitioner was dismissed

by the Court of Appeal and he is now a condemned prisoner awaiting execution for

the offence of murder.

Your humble Petitioner is seeking the mercy of your Excellency the Governor

to save him from this punishment.

Your humble Petitioner is now aged 35, having been born on 21st September

1946 in China and has lived continuously in this Colony since 1971. He received

schooling up to Secondary one level. He is married with 5 children.

Your humble Petitioner was a technician in China. In Hong Kong he first

worked as a collie, then as a construction worker. Starting from about 1974 to

the date of arrest, your humble Petitioner had no full time job.

Apart from the present offence, your humble Petitioner has one previous

conviction of Robbery.

(7) Your humble Petitioner accepts and avers that by killing the deceased he

has offended against the law of this Colony and morality in the most grievous manner.

He accepts and avers that nothing can be urged on his behalf in relation to the offence

itself.
