Criminal Session Case 30/81 Regina v.

In accordance with Clause XXXIV of the Royal Instructions

who was convicted by a jury on

I report on the case

28th July, 1981 of the offence of murder. I sentenced him to death.

The offence was committed on 20.9.1980 when ("the

accused") armed with two knives launched a frenzied attack on

("the deceased") during which the deceased received two

fatal stab wounds.

In mid-1977 the accused began a relationship with Miss

WONG who was then about 15 or 16 years of age. The relationship

became an intimate one. Repeated acts of sexual intercourse occurred

and they talked of marriage. One letter, written by

the accused in July 1979, ended with the phrase, "Your wife",

followed by her signature.

In April 1980

went to work as a bank messenger.

The 20-year-old deceased was then working as a clerk at the same bank.

The two became friendly. By August 1980

had become so

friendly with the deceased that she was by then "dating him" and

refusing "to date" the accused.

On 15th September, 1980

and the deceased became

engaged. In order to convince the accused that there was no point

in his trying "to date"

any more a meeting was arranged at

a restaurant. At that meeting on the evening of 19th September, 1980

were the deceased,

the accused and several friends common

to both

and the accused.
