C. HOME ENVIRONMENT
Do
Being a singleton with no family member, the Prisoner used to rent himself a small room and lived alone. About 3 years before he committed the present offence, the Prisoner made his abode at the address where the murder took place. He rented the front room there with a monthly rental of $160. It was an old tenement flat partitioned into 4 rooms and 2 cocklofts. Living condition was quite congested and ventilation in the house was poor. In the day time, all the residents went out to work. The door was locked and the flat was left unattended. Before the Prisoner moved there, he rented himself a room at Rm. 21, Kam Tong House, 5th floor, Muk Cheong Street, Kowloon.
ASSOCIATES
The Prisoner enjoyed getting along with some kinsmen who were also his workmates. Apart from those kinsmen, he had very few friends. He managed to maintain a smooth relationship with other co-tenants in the house except the deceased and the landlady. The Prisoner did not seem to have undesirable associates such as triad members or criminals.
PERSONS CONTACTED FOR INFORMATION RELEVANT TO THE CONDUCT AND CHARACTER OF THE PRISONER
1. Madam Wong Cho-ying, (Grandmother of the deceased, also the
Prisoner's landlady at 42N, Pak Tai Street, 4th floor, Kowloon.)
Madam Wong was quite emotional when she was contacted to comment on the Prisoner's general conduct. She inclined to give all adverse remarks on him and had showed strong resentment against the Prisoner. According to Madam Wong, the Prisoner was an unruly, bad-tempered and aggressive character. He was said to be a nuisance in the flat as he often turned his television set on a full volume. Madam Wong admitted that she was not in good terms with the Prisoner long before the offence occured. She had many disputes with the Prisoner about tenancy in which the Prisoner was asked to move away. Madam Wong accused the Prisoner had once beaten her daughter and that incident was made known to the police. However, the Prisoner had not been brought up to Court.
2.

Though the Prisoner had dispute with his mother-in-law over the tenancy problem, Mr. Tong was not involved in any of their quarrels.
indicated that the Prisoner was a hot tempered and aggressive character yet he did not expect the Prisoner would commit` such an offence and took away the life of his son.
