similarly bound together with wire behind his back. There was a blindfold around his eyes which was also secured by wire. In the floor of the wardrobe was a small, recently made hole and beside the wardrobe was a gas cylinder with hose which had obviously been disconnected from the cooker in the kitchen area. Foot prints in blood came from one pair of shoes indicating the assailant was alone. There was no sign of forced entry nor of any struggle or disturbance. A beer bottle with about one
inch of beer left in it was also found.

There were 9 stab wounds in the chest 3 of which 470
would have required "a determined effort" ; of these one penetrated the lung and the other the heart and caused death. The pathologist was able to say that ligature marks and abrasions on the wrists and ankles were caused before death and that after the stab in the heart the deceased would have died within a minute or two and certainly within 5 minutes. He also observed that there were no "defensive injuries" around the deceased's hands and arms. The stabs were caused by a sharp, three-sided instrument such as a triangular file. As a result it was possible to conclude from the whole of the
medical evidence that the deceased had been stabbed after he had been bound up.

There were no eyewitnesses to the killing.
There s is evidence that MA had sold his own hut nearby and moved in with the deceased a few weeks before the killing. After his arrest on 5. 2. 80. the accused admitted orally that he had killed YEUNG. This was later written down by the arresting
officer and the defendant added a further statement in his own
