As the prisoner's parents were both educated people, the prisoner's education was adequately attended to. As his mother was a Christian, he was arranged to study at a Christian School, the Henrietta School where he studied till Form 4 and became exposed to religious influence. The prisoner completed his secondary education at Sai Nam Secondary School in 1972. Thereafter, the prisoner started his career in the field of Insurance. Before his marriage, he led a bachelor life, living independently and apart from his mother. From 1973 to August 1975, the prisoner worked in the Home Service Sales Administration Department of Hang Lung Insurance Limited. He worked competently there and was promoted from an ordinary clerk to the post of acting superintendent with salary of $1,000 a month. For better prospect and benefit, the prisoner changed to work in the Hong Kong Family Insurance Co. Ltd. in August 75 where he stayed till February 76 when he was dissatisfied and was simultaneously dismissed by the employer for having some connection with another insurance company.
3.
The prisoner was married to his wife, Madam CHUNG Ling-fung in April 1976. Two daughters were subsequently born in the next two years. They lived in a rented flat in Smithfield Road, Western District. But during this period, except for short whiles working as a casual clerical staff and a sales representative in Lam Soon (H.K.) Ltd. between April to July 78 earning $1,340 a month, the prisoner had been unemployed for most of the time. Family living was mainly supported by the income from the prisoner's wife who earned $1,000 - 1,500 a month as a sales girl. The prisoner complained that he had difficulty in hunting jobs because being specialized in insurance he was limited in experience in other fields. What was more important was that he could hardly help thinking about his past achievement and high position that made him very difficult to accept or to adjust to a new job which ranked relatively lower and where he had to receive much command from others.
