into writing and sent to Your Petitioner's solicitors

by letter of the 4th day of November 1980) whereby the

said Court dismissed Your Petitioner's appeal against

his conviction in the Supreme Court of Hong Kong, Criminal

Jurisdiction, on the 19th day of March 1980 for the offence

of murder when he was sentenced to death.

THAT the principal grounds on which this

Petition is based are:

(a)

that the learned trial judge failed

properly to direct the jury as to

their approach to the statement given

by the Appellant under caution.

that the learned trial judge failed

to direct the jury that the cautioned

statement was equivocable as regards

his guilt of murder.

(c)

that the learned trial judge erred

in directing the jury as to the

relevant law in respect to joint

venture.

(d)

(e)

that the learned trial judge failed

to sufficiently direct the jury on

the law as to joint venture and, in

particular, as to the intention

necessary in a person who is not

present at the time of the murder.

that the learned trial judge wrongly
