1. Ms Vertucci rang Mr Clift this afternoon and in his absence

I took the call. She asked whether her petition had been received

and what was happening to it. I told her that it had been received

and was being considered.

2. Ms Vertucci rang me direct shortly afterwards and asked when

a decision would be reached on her petition and whether it would

be sent to her at her London address. I said that I could not

anticipate when Ministers would decide on her case but that I

expected it to be within a week. I confirmed that I expected a

reply to be sent to her London address.
